Welcome to Samwise and Friends! The first time I ever updated my old webcomic review blog, I mentioned that the webcomic community would see a rise in webcomic review blogs and fixed-art comics. The rise in webcomic-review blogs was short-lived; there were dozens for a while, but all but a few of them died off when Websnark stopped updating.
The rise in fixed-art comics never happened. I predicted it because (as well as my webcomic review blog) I was starting a fixed-art comic. I got swept up in the frenetic world of reviewing webcomics, and didn’t work on it until July of 2006…which is when I stopped updating my webcomic review blog.
Well, it’s now November of 2008. The comic has been sitting on my hard-drive for two years now. I still work on it from time to time, but most of my time is caught in making and writing TV shows these days.
I’ve got about 130 comics on my hard-drive. I debated for a while how to upload them - all at once? Once a day for a few months? I eventually decided on once a week - right now, I’ve got comics set to automatically upload until 2011. I write an average of about 50/year, so by the time I run out of the current lot, I should have enough to tide me over for another year or two.
(by the way, in my mind, I refer to Samwise comics as “seasons”. 50 comics in a season, each season has a self-contained plot, between each season there will be a handful of guest comics.)
So add the comic to your RSS feed, or bookmark us and come back once a week. You don’t have to worry about missed updates for several years to come!
As for this blog, I’ll try to pop in and update every now and again, but the majority of my writing occurs either at my personal website or my livejournal, so I really don’t know how often I’ll be posting here. I’ll update again in a month or two if I remember, to wipe this mammoth entry off the front page and talk about a few other fixed-art comics I admire.
